The Invention of AI
Morning AI!

You know ChatGPT?

That sucker was actually invented in... 1950!
By this beautifully derd British mathematician dude:

Alan Turing.
Now, Alan’s got this REALLY smart question:

It’s a great idea!
But it raises an interesting problem.

Great question.
So Turing comes up with a test.
You’d sit a Derd at a computer:

Have them chat with another machine (unbeknownst to them):

Ask the person this question:

Correct, computer!
This simple test - The Turing Test - becomes the gold standard for measuring machine intelligence!
If we can no longer tell the difference between a human and a machine, the machine is demonstrating something like thinking.
So for 70 YEARS, researchers make steady progress toward better and better AI Chatbots.
There was ALICE in 1995

SmarterChild on AIM in 2001

Siri rolls out in 2011

But then in 2022, ChatGPT goes CRAZY.

NO!
After seven decades of innovation, machines finally start passing the Turing test!
The only problem?
AI’s behavior has now completely emerged on its own.
We don’t really know how it works anymore…
