Morning Sons of Liberty!

Maybe you haven’t heard of the Sons of Liberty (I haven’t)..

But surely you’ve heard of The Boston Tea Party.

You know when some angry guys

Dressed as Native Americans

Threw chests of tea into the Boston Harbor..

Ya…WHAT??

Turns out it’s actually pretty important.

So we go back to America. Mid 1700s.

Well, actually, America isn’t America yet.

It’s 13 British colonies.

Their KING is King George III.

So these colonists are basically British citizens.

Now, we’ve already got a bit of a problem.

See, Britain just fought the French and Indian War

Andddd now they’re super broke

So King George is all like:

The British Americans (aka colonist) are like:

The result??

Britain starts taxing EVERYTHING.

Paper, newspaper, glass, paint, lead, and..

So the tea ships start showing up in Boston Harbor

And the colonists are like:

The Brits are like:

Everybody’s stuck!

So on the night of December 16th, 1773, a group called

Dress up like Mohawk Native Americans

Sneak onto the ship

And dump 342 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor!

This unites the 13 colonies, and the revolution toward independence begins!
